Delaware VP selected to head NCAA Foundation

The NCAA Foundation has hired Marion B. Peavey, vice-president for development and alumni relations at the University of Delaware, as its executive director.

Peavey will be responsible for directing all of the Foundation's fund-raising and development efforts and will oversee the management of the Foundation to ensure that funds are available to support present and projected needs. In addition, Peavey will act as an advocate and spokesperson for the Foundation and work to assure that its mission, programs and policies are articulated and communicated clearly to the general public.

Peavey has been in his position at Delaware since 1996. He was responsible for all university fund-raising, alumni and university relations, and special events. He oversaw Delaware's main and satellite campuses, 10 colleges and all of its museums and libraries. Peavey managed a staff of 72 and a budget of $3.3 million.

Before his stint at Delaware, Peavey was the vice-president for development and alumni affairs at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and as the vice-president for development and university relations at the University of Virginia.

Peavey has a bachelor's degree from Wofford College and a master's in journalism and communications from the University of South Carolina, Columbia.
