Bright stars at the Final Fours

This year's program covers for the Men's and Women's Final Fours feature colorful artwork from Action Images, Inc., an NCAA licensee. Action Images, Inc., is a sports art publisher located in the Chicago area and has published sports prints featuring original artwork for NCAA championship events such as Division I basketball, lacrosse, soccer and baseball. The artwork for the 1999 Final Fours was created by freelance artists George Gaadt (men's) and Alan Studt (women's). Gaadt's design captures the flavor of the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida, area, while Studt's design is modeled after a piece he created for a previous College World Series program, called "StarStruck," in which a group of youngsters appears at dusk in front of the event stadium. Each child is wearing the uniform of a favorite college and each uniform represents a former champion (with the uniform number representing a year that school won a title).
