Division II Men's Basketball

Field: The championship provides for a field of 48 teams.

Dates and sites: All six regional qualifiers will advance to a single regional site. The eight regional tournaments will be conducted March 4-6 or 5-7 to determine the Elite Eight quarterfinalists, who will advance to the finals at the Commonwealth Center in Louisville, Kentucky, March 17, 18 and 20.

The request numbers are 5056 for quarterfinal results; 5057 for semifinal results and 5058 for championship-game results. These are the only games for which results will be posted. The championship-game results will be published in the March 29 issue of The NCAA News.

Championship notes: UC Davis won for the first time last year, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan, which has won the championship a record six times, but not since 1990 ... Northern Kentucky advanced to consecutive title games in 1996 and 1997, but lost both times. The Norse have yet to win a title in five appearances ... This is the fifth straight year the Elite Eight has been in Louisville, Kentucky. A team from that state has been runner-up in each of the last three years.
