Division I Men's Basketball

Field: A field of 64 teams is selected by the Division I Men's Basketball Committee.

Dates and sites: First- and second-round games are March 11 and 13 at the following sites, by region: South, Orlando, Florida, and Indianapolis; West, Seattle and Denver; East, Boston and Charlotte, North Carolina; and Midwest, Milwaukee and New Orleans. The East regional is March 19 and 21, East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Midwest is March 19 and 21, St. Louis. The South is March 18 and 20, Knoxville, Tennessee. The West is March 18 and 20, Phoenix. The Final Four will be March 27 and 29 in Tampa, Florida.

These are the only games for which results will be posted. Championship-game results will be published in the April 12 issue of The NCAA News.

Championship notes: Kentucky has won two of the past three titles and has played in the last three championship games ... This is the first year the Final Four has been played in Florida ... Two teams from the Sunshine State have made the Final Four -- coach Hugh Durham's Florida State team, which lost to John Wooden's UCLA squad in the 1972 championship game, and Lon Kruger's Florida squad, which lost to Duke in the 1994 semifinals.
