Committee notices

Division I

Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I Nomination Form and Division I Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is March 26, 1999.

Division I Women's Basketball Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Kathy Noble, who will resign from the committee, effective May 1, due to her move to Georgia Institute of Technology.

A total of four vacancies exists on the committee. Two of the appointees must be from Division I-A and two must be from Division I-AA and/or Division I-AAA. One of the appointees must be from the West region and one must be from the Midwest region. The other two appointees will be at-large; however, it is preferred that one be from the East region. Nominations for all four vacancies are now being accepted. Individuals who previously submitted nomination materials will remain in the pool of candidates. It is anticipated that the Championships/Competition Cabinet will make the appointments this spring. Eligible subdivisions: I-A, I-AA, I-AAA.

Division I Women's Soccer Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace Amy Hackett, University of Utah, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from Division I-A. Eligible subdivision: I-A.

Division I Women's Soccer Committee: A total of four vacancies exists on the committee. Three of the appointees must be from Division I-A and one must be from Division I-AA or Division I-AAA. One of the appointees must be from the Southeast region. It is preferred that the other appointees be from the Central, Great Lakes or Mid-Atlantic regions. Active women's soccer coaches are encouraged to apply. Individuals who previously submitted nomination materials will remain in the pool of candidates. Eligible subdivisions: I-A, I-AA, I-AAA.

Division II

Division II individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division II. A Division II Nomination Form and Division II Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Becky Crews, Trinity University (Texas), who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be female. Division III Baseball Committee: Two vacancies. One appointee must be from the Midwest region and one must be from the Mid-Atlantic region. One of the appointees must be an athletics administrator who does not coach baseball. Neither appointee may be from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference or the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

Division III Men's Basketball Committee: Two vacancies. One appointee must be from the Northeast region and one must be from the Middle Atlantic region. One of the appointees must be an athletics administrator who does not coach men's basketball. Neither of the appointees may be from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference or the Centennial Conference.

Division III Women's Basketball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee must be from the Great Lakes region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's basketball. The appointee may not be from the University Athletic Association.

Men's and Women's Fencing Committee: One vacancy. The appointee must represent men's fencing and must be from the West or Northeast region.

Division III Field Hockey Committee: Two vacancies. One appointee must be from the North Atlantic region and one must be from the South Atlantic region. Neither of the appointees may be from the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Conference or the Middle Atlantic States Conference.

Division III Football Committee: One vacancy. The appointee must be from the South region. The appointee may be from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Divisions III Women's Golf Committee: Two vacancies. Due to the adoption of Convention Proposal No. 37, a Division III Women's Golf Committee has been established. The current Division III members of the Divisions II/III Women's Golf Committee will serve on the new committee. However, there are two vacancies, effective September 1999. One appointee must be from the West district and one must be from the Great Lakes district. Neither of the appointees may be from the American Southwest Conference.

Division III Women's Lacrosse Committee: One vacancy. The appointee must be from the South Atlantic region and may not be from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Division III Men's Soccer Committee: Two vacancies. One appointee must be from the Mid-Atlantic region and one must be from the West region. Neither of the appointees may be from the Centennial Conference or the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Division III Women's Softball Committee: Two vacancies. One appointee must be from the East region and one must be from the Central region. At least one of the appointees must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's softball. Neither of the appointees may be from the Middle Atlantic States Conference or the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: Two vacancies. One appointee must represent men's tennis and must be from the West region. One appointee must represent women's tennis and must be from the South region. At least one of the appointees must be an athletics administrator who does not coach tennis. Neither of the appointees may be from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference or the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee: Two vacancies. One appointee must represent men's track and one must represent women's track. One appointee must be from the Midwest region and one must be from the New York region. Neither of the appointees may be from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference or the University Athletic Association.

Baseball Rules Committee: One vacancy. The appointee may not be from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Memorial Resolutions Committee: One vacancy. The appointee must be from Division III.

Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee: Two Division III vacancies. Both appointees must be ethnic minorities and may not be from the State University of New York Athletic Conference.
