Bylaw 15.2.6.1

Financial aid/student-athlete employment -- return to original institution -- Division I

Division I institutions should note that pursuant to NCAA Bylaw 15.2.6.1, a student-athlete may receive earnings from legitimate on- or off-campus employment during semester or term time, in combination with other financial aid included in the student-athlete's individual financial aid limit, up to the value of a full grant plus $2,000, provided: (a) the student-athlete has spent one academic year in residence at the certifying institution; and (b) the student-athlete is eligible academically to compete for the institution. Further, during its September 9, 1998, meeting, the NCAA Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations determined that a student-athlete who has attended a Division I institution for one academic year, transfers to another collegiate institution (two-year college or four-year institution) and subsequently returns to the original institution may use the employment earnings exceptions set forth in Bylaw 15.2.6.1, provided the student-athlete is academically eligible to represent the institution in intercollegiate competition.

Bylaw 13.4.2

Contacts/telephone call/video conference -- Divisions I and II

Divisions I and II institutions should note that it is not permissible to produce video/audio materials to show or send to a prospect unless it is a highlight film as defined in Bylaw 13.4.2.1; official academic admissions and student-services video as defined in Bylaw 13.4.2.2; or a video, tape or film related to the institution's athletics program as defined in Bylaw 13.4.2.3. Further, during its September 9, 1998, meeting, the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations determined that it is not permissible for a member of an institution's coaching staff to engage in face-to-face contact with a prospective student-athlete via a videoconference, inasmuch as such activity is considered the equivalent of a recruiting video.
