NCAA Convention Facts & Key Events

93rd Convention

San Antonio, Texas

Facts

When: January 9-12, 1999. Related events begin January 7 and conclude January 14.

Where: San Antonio. The headquarters hotel is the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel. Events also will be conducted at the Hyatt Regency, Hilton Palacio Del Rio, Menger and Marriott Riverwalk Hotels and the Gonzales Convention Center. This is the second NCAA Convention to be conducted in San Antonio. The Association previously met there in 1994.

Project attendance: Based on advance hotel reservations, it appears that attendance for the 1999 Convention will be about 1,800, a decline of about 300 from last year.

Number of proposals: Divisions II and III delegates will act on 48 proposals listed in the Official Notice (24 in each division). The Management Councils and presidential governing bodies of each division also will meet in conjunction with the Convention.

Sunday, January 10

Division II CEO Luncheon: Noon-1:30 p.m., Room 102, Gonzales Convention Center.

Division II Issues Forum: 2-4 p.m., Mission Ballroom, Gonzales Convention Center.

Division III Forum: 2:45-4:30 p.m., Alamo Ballroom, Marriott Riverwalk.

Opening Business Session: 4:45-6:15 p.m., North Banquet Hall, Gonzales Convention Center.

NCAA Honors Dinner: 7:30-9:30 p.m., Grand Ballroom, Marriott Rivercenter.

Monday, January 11

NCAA Keynote Speaker: 8:15-9 a.m., Cockrell Theater, Gonzales Convention Center.

Division II Business Session: 9:30 a.m.-noon and 1:30-5 p.m., Grand Salon E, Marriott Rivercenter.

Division III Business Session: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-5:30 p.m., Grand Salon I, Marriott Rivercenter.

Division I Forum: 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., North Banquet Hall, Gonzales Convention Center.

Tuesday, January 12

Division III Business Session: 8 -11 a.m., Grand Salon I, Marriott Rivercenter.

Registration is located in the Grand Lobby of the Marriott Rivercenter. Delegates may register beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, January 9.

An NCAA information booth also will be available in the Grand Lobby of the Marriott Rivercenter.
