Mallonee promoted, assigned new duties

Steve Mallonee, a member of the membership services staff since 1986, has been promoted to director of membership services/Division I governance staff liaison.

Mallonee, who had been serving as the director of membership services, will provide interpretative/legislative expertise to the Division I governance structure in his new capacity. Mallonee will attend all meetings of the Division I Management Council and the Academics/Eligibility/Compliance and Championships/Competition Cabinets.

Mallonee also will serve as a staff liaison to the Division I Working Group to Study Basketball Issues.

Internally, Mallonee's new responsibilities include facilitating communications with all membership services staff regarding governance matters before and after meetings. He also will coordinate the continuing-education program for the staff and serve as a key member of the quality-control team, reviewing correspondence, minutes and legislation to assure accuracy and completeness.

Mallonee, who also will serve as a primary membership services liaison to the enforcement/student-athlete reinstatement staff, has a bachelor's degree from the University of the South and a law degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
