Notes

Facilities: The Kean University Stadium was dedicated during a pregame ceremony last month before the Kean-Buffalo State football game. The facility, which is nearing completion, features an artificial turf multipurpose field and an eight-lane track. The field will be home to Cougar football, field hockey, and men's and women's lacrosse, as well as the fledgling track and field program. The stadium is part of a renovation of the entire campus. Also included is a new press box, light towers, tennis courts and a renovation of the locker rooms.

Sports sponsorship: Juniata College recently announced that it will add men's cross country as a varsity sport in fall 1999. With this addition, Juniata will offer 16 varsity sports. Juniata offered men's cross country as a varsity sport before 1995-96 when the sport was downgraded to club status to enable the college to increase its commitment to gender equity and the overall quality of all its athletics programs. The coach of the revived program will be Jon Cutright, who previously coached the sport at Juniata. Cutright also serves as head coach of the men's and women's track and field teams.

Milestones: John Gagliardi, St. John's University (Minnesota), 350 victories in football ... Walter Bowman, Gordon College, 300 victories in men's soccer ... Frank Girardi, Lycoming College, 200 victories in football ... Paul McGinlay, Trinity University (Texas), 100 victories in men's soccer ...
