Springsteen appointed to Management Council

Kathryn R. M. Springsteen, faculty athletics representative at Colby-Sawyer College, has been appointed to fill an immediate vacancy on the Division III Management Council.

The vacancy occurred following the the retirement of Ginny Studer, faculty athletics representative at State University College at Brockport.

Springsteen's term on the Division III Management Council expires in January 2000, and she will be eligible for re-election.

Springsteen is the chair of the department of natural sciences at Colby-Sawyer, and she also is a professor of chemistry.

Springsteen also served as acting academic vice-president and dean of the faculty from 1996 to 1998. She has been at Colby-Sawyer since 1977, when she began her career there as an instructor of chemistry. She has been a full professor since 1993.

Springsteen has been a visiting scholar in occupational health at Harvard University's School of Public Health, and she has participated in seminars on a number of topics, including OSHA reform, occupational health curriculum reform, pollution prevention and environmental health.

Springsteen has a doctorate in inorganic chemistry from West Virginia University and a bachelor of science in chemistry with a minor in physics from Marshall University.
