Saum promoted to director of agent, gambling activities

William S. Saum has been promoted to the newly created position of NCAA director of agent and gambling activities.

Saum, previously NCAA agent and gambling representative II, joined the staff in 1988 as an enforcement representative. In 1996, he was given responsibility for gambling and agent activities. Since then, he has become a nationally recognized authority on those topics.

Before joining the NCAA staff, Saum was an assistant dean of students and an assistant football coach at Defiance College. He also was an assistant football coach and history teacher at Rittman (Ohio) High School; head track coach and assistant football coach at Heidelberg College; and a graduate assistant football coach at Bowling Green State University.

Saum is a graduate of the University of Dayton and also holds a master's degree from Bowling Green.
