What does the NCAA say about body piercing?

Most NCAA playing rules have restrictions on jewelry, and empower the games officials to have athletes remove jewelry before they enter the playing area. The rules also empower the officials to require athletes to remove anything that may endanger themselves or others during competition. Although body piercings are not specifically mentioned in NCAA rules, officials would be within their authority to inform athletes to remove them.
