Division I

Peer reviewers sought for certification program

Potential peer reviewers are being solicited to participate in the second cycle of the Division I Athletics Certification Program.

Persons who were in the peer-review pool during the program's first cycle already have been mailed an application, but persons who have not served and are interested in doing so should call or write to Brad Bertani, NCAA membership services representative, at the national office (6201 College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas 66211-2422; telephone 913/ 339-1906).

Individuals who were in the peer-review pool during the first cycle but have changed institutions or have retired in the last five years may not have received an application. Those persons interested in serving also should contact Bertani.

The deadline for applications to be received is December 15.

Peer-review teams generally are four-to five-member teams selected from a pool that includes individuals from Division I institutions or conferences that have a general knowledge of intercollegiate athletics. These individuals must be chief executive officers, directors of athletics, faculty athletics representatives, senior woman administrators, or have a recognized expertise in particular areas addressed in the certification program.

The schedule of orientation visits and evaluation visits for the program's second cycle was announced in the October 12 issue of The NCAA News.
