The NCAA News -- September 28, 1998

Association wide -- Current news stories to be posted online

Readers of The NCAA News now may obtain frequent updates of NCAA information through NCAA Online.

Stories of interest to the membership will be posted on NCAA Online (www.ncaa.org) as they are available. Major news -- for example, developments from the management councils, presidential bodies and the NCAA Convention -- will be covered either on a same-day or next-day basis.

In addition, information from NCAA championships, including complete results, will be posted more quickly than in the past.

Previously, the News replicated its printed content on the Web site. Under the new approach, stories will be posted as soon as they are written and edited.

"This is part of our effort to get information to the membership as soon as possible while at the same time enhancing our printed product," said David Pickle, NCAA director of printed communications.

Pickle noted that the biweekly printing schedule, which became effective in September, will enable the News to develop more interesting content without forfeiting the timely information that the membership needs to have.
