Division I Notes

Facilities: Miami University (Ohio) will break ground September 26 on the Walter L. Gross Jr. Family Student Development Center, a $5 million facility designed to cater to both the academic and physical needs of student-athletes. Half the facility will be a 10,000-square foot physical fitness center, which will include free and machine weights; a circuit training machine; cardiovascular equipment; and speed, agility and jump training facilities. The other portion of the center will be devoted to academic enrichment, featuring two large study areas, an informal study lounge, private tutoring offices and a computer lab. Construction is expected to be complete by July 2000... Arizona State University has renamed its basketball arena Wells Fargo Arena in honor of a $5 million gift pledged by Wells Fargo Bank to the university's athletics programs. Most of the gift will be spent to renovate the former University Activity Center, the 14,198-seat home of the Sun Devils basketball, gymnastics, volleyball and wrestling teams.
