Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is August 28, 1998.

Men's and Women's Fencing Committee: Two interim (immediate) vacancies. The appointees will replace Jeffrey Eisen, formerly of the University of Detroit, Mercy, and Denise Cohen, formerly of the United States Air Force Academy, both resigned from the committee. Both appointees must represent women's fencing and both must be athletics administrators. One appointee must be from the Midwest region and one must be from the West region. Eligible divisions: I-A, I-AA, I-AAA, II, III.

Division I

Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I Nomination Form and Division I Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

Division I Women's Softball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Paula B. Jantz, University of Iowa, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee will preferably be from the Mideast region. Eligible subdivisions: I-A, I-AA, I-AAA.

Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace Lisa Fortman, Northwestern University, who retired. The appointee must represent women's tennis and will preferably be from the Southwest region. The appointee may not be from Division I-A. Eligible subdivisions: I-AA, I-AAA.

Division I Women's Volleyball Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace Terry Condon, formerly of Northeastern University, no longer at a member institution. The appointee will preferably be from volleyball district 1 and will preferably be an athletics administrator. The appointee may not be from Division I-A. Eligible subdivisions: I-AA, I-AAA.

Division II

Division II individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division II. A Division II Nomination Form and Division II Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

Committee on Competitive Safeguards: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Ann Quinn-Zobek, University of Northern Colorado, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be female and must be an active coach in any sport.

Division II Field Hockey Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Debbie Tweed, Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee will preferably be from the South region.

Division II Women's Basketball Committee: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace David Smith, formerly of Shippensburg University, no longer eligible to represent the East region. The appointee must be from the East region.

Divisions II/III Women's Golf Committee: Two Division II interim (immediate) vacancies. One appointee will replace Julie Garner, formerly of Rollins College, no longer at a member institution. The other appointee will replace Patti Butcher, who resigned from the committee. One appointee must be from the Midwest region and one from the West region. One of the appointees must be an athletics administrator.

Division II Women's Soccer Committee: Three vacancies (including one interim). The committee was expanded to eight members, creating new positions on the committee. The interim appointee will replace Linda Hackett, Bryant College, who resigned from the committee. One of the appointees must be from the Northeast region, one from the Southeast region and one from the New England region. At least two of the appointees must be athletics administrators.

Division II Women's Softball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Linda J. Wooster, Quinnipiac College, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Northeast region and must be an athletics administrator.

Division III

Division III individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division III. A Division III Nominee Information Form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Julie Quickel, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 913/339-0035).

The appointee must be from the East region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's basketball. The appointee may not be from the Empire Athletic Association.

Division III Women's Volleyball: One interim (immediate) vacancy. The appointee will replace Ann Koger, Haverford College, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's volleyball. The appointee must be from the Mid-Atlantic region and may not be from the Centennial Conference.

Division III Women's Lacrosse Committee: Three vacancies (including one interim). One appointee will replace Suzanne Coffey, Bates College, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the New England region and must be an athletics administrator who does not coach women's lacrosse. The committee was expanded by one new member. The new appointee must be from the Metro region and must be an athletics administrator. The interim appointee will replace Donna Ledwin, who is no longer at an institution that sponsors women's lacrosse. The interim appointee must be from the Central region and must be an athletics administrator. None of the appointees may be from the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Division III Women's Tennis Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Christine J. Davis, Smith College, not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must represent women's tennis and must be from the East region. The appointee may not be from the New England Women's Eight Conference or the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
