Morgan, Rose to resign from national office staff

NCAA Division I Chief of Staff Stephen R. Morgan, a member of the staff since 1977, has announced his resignation, effective at the end of October.

Morgan has served as Division I chief of staff since January 1996. His duties have included supporting Division I governance units; developing innovative concepts for the governance of the division; and developing communication strategies to inform the division's members of governance issues.

Morgan joined the Association's staff as an enforcement representative and was promoted to the position of associate executive director. He was appointed group executive for membership services in 1992, with responsibilities for compliance, enforcement and legislative services. He served as staff liaison to the Division I Task Force to Review the NCAA Membership Structure before assuming his current position.

Also, Celeste E. Rose, group executive director for public affairs, has accepted a position as vice-chancellor for university relations at the University of California, Davis. She assumes her new position in July.

Rose joined the staff in August 1997. She previously served as assistant vice-president for university relations and special assistant to the president of the University of California system.

Her NCAA responsibilities included oversight of public relations, broadcast services, federal governmental relations, statistics, graphics, The NCAA News and publishing.
