Lynn claims II women's tennis, defeating Armstrong Atlantic State

Lynn captured its second straight NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship with a 5-2 victory over Armstrong Atlantic State.

The tournament, held May 8-11 in Springfield, Missouri, took on a similar look to last year's event as the same two teams advanced to the final match.

And like last year, Armstrong Atlantic State won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play, but Lynn then posted straight-set victories in the first four singles matches to clinch the crown.

Katerina Koldova, Julia Jehs, Ali Peshkin-Schwartz and Sandy Peshkin were the singles winners for the Fighting Knights. Koldova and Jehs won singles matches last year to help Lynn beat Armstong Atlantic State, 5-4.

The Fighting Knights defeated Presbyterian, Northern Colorado and Barry in the preliminary rounds to reach the final.

The title culminated a 20-0 season for Lynn.
