Top-ranked Lynn hopes for crown

Event: 1998 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship.

Overview: Top-ranked Lynn is paced by Katerina Koldova, the eighth-ranked singles player in the country. Koldova teams with Julia Jehs to create a formidable doubles tandem .... North Florida will contend behind its fifth-ranked doubles team of Dawn Bodea-Ritter and Ulrika Gaver, who won the Rolex regional. The duo has been ranked in the top five all year. Bodea-Ritter and Gaver sport a 13-5 doubles record and are consistently playing as North Florida's No.1 doubles team. North Florida is 26-3, having lost only to Armstrong Atlantic and Lynn. The Lady Ospreys were ranked second in the country in the latest Rolex Collegiate Rank-ings .... Armstrong Atlantic will ride the efforts of singles players Maren Mueller, Sandra van der Aa and Maria Hadamovsky. Mueller and van der Aa also form a dynamic doubles duo .... Rollins' Monica Bonilla, the Lady Tars' No. 1 singles player, holds a 23-7 record on the season. Bonilla may play doubles with Monika Wisser, the Lady Tars' No. 2 singles player. Wisser's season singles record is 16-6. She also boasts a 10-2 doubles record when paired with Sabrina Maharaj .... Fifth-ranked Barry has played with only six players all season, but championship expectations are high for Jennifer Araldi, Imna Navarro, Vanessa Campello, Anna Hallbergson, Maryla Madura and Ashley Bradford. Araldi and Hallbergson form the team's top doubles tandem.

Field: Regional tournaments will be played at 10 sites (three four-team tournaments in the Midwest and South regions and two four-team tournaments in the East and West regions). The 10 regional winners, along with six other teams selected before the regionals (two each from the East and South regions and one each from the West and Midwest regions), will advance to the championships site.

Dates and sites: Regional tournaments will be May 8-10. The championship will be May 15-18 at Springfield, Missouri. Southwest Baptist will serve as host.
