Part-time employees eligible for committees

Part-time institutional or conference employees are eligible for service on NCAA committees, provided they work at least half-time in their positions and are paid for that work on a regular basis.

Division I conferences and Divisions II and III institutions are being urged to consider that part-time employees are eligible for service when submitting nominations for committee vacancies.

NCAA Bylaw 21 includes provisions permitting appointment to committees of individuals who "perform a regular staff function representing at least 50 percent of the normal workload for a staff member" at an institution or conference.

The legislation also requires that such individuals be "salaried on a regular basis," which has been interpreted to mean simply that the individual must be paid regularly by the institution or conference.

Further information about eligibility for committee service can be obtained from Julie Quickel, NCAA committee coordinator, at the national office.
