Trout, Edwards named to Division II Management Council

Marjorie A. Trout of Millersville University of Pennsylvania and Earl W. Edwards of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania have been elected to fill vacancies on the Division II Management Council.

Trout, director of women's athletics at Millersville, replaces Charles A. "Tod" Eberle as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's representative on the Management Council. Edwards, director of athletics at East Stroudsburg, replaces Shirley Green Reese as an at-large representative.

The Division II Presidents Council ratified the election of Trout and Edwards at its October 28 meeting.

Trout has been director of women's athletics at Millersville since 1981. She has been at the school since joining the faculty as a health and physical education instructor in 1964. She also coached the women's basketball team at the school from 1964 to 1976 and women's lacrosse team from 1966 to 1979.

She became coordinator of women's athletics at Millersville in 1971, then was named associate director of athletics in 1977 before becoming director of women's athletics. She also has served as director of equal opportunity in sport at the university since 1974.

Trout served on the former NCAA Council from 1988 to 1992 and has served on numerous other NCAA committees, including the Eligibility Committee, Committee on Women's Athletics, Division II Women's Softball Committee and Administrative Review Panel.

She is a graduate of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.

Edwards has been director of athletics at East Stroudsburg since 1993. He previously was an administrator at the University of California, San Diego, from 1987 to 1993, including four years as associate athletics director.

He also has been director or associate director of intramurals programs at the University of Michigan; University of California, Davis; University of Massachusetts, Amherst; and Drexel University. At Massachusetts, he also was an assistant men's basketball coach for two years, and he served as a member of the physical education faculty and later as assistant athletics director at Drexel.

Edwards served on the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee from 1991 to 1993 and also has served on various regional championships selection committees in Division II.

He earned an associate of arts degree with honors in liberal arts at College of Staten Island, a bachelor of science degree (cum laude) in health and physical education at East Stroudsburg and a master of science (cum laude) in physical education and sports administration at Massachusetts.
