Women's Division I golf championships sites chosen for 1999, 2000

The Division I women's golf subcommittee of the Men's and Women's Golf Committee has chosen the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the Crosswater course at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon, as sites for the women's golf championships in 1999 and 2000, respectively.

The University of Tulsa will host the 1999 event, and Oregon State University will host in 2000.

The 1999 women's golf championships competition will be May 19-22. Competition dates for the 2000 championships are May 24-27. The 1998 championships will be at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin. The University of Wisconsin, Madison, will serve as host.

"These courses have a tradition of great competition. We are proud to be able to continue this tradition by showcasing some of the greatest collegiate athletes in women's golf," said Betty Palmer of the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, chair of the Division I women's golf subcommittee.

The Tulsa Country Club course is the oldest golf course in the city and provides an excellent view of downtown Tulsa. The course was designed by A. W. Tillinghast.

The Crosswater course at Sunriver Resort is regarded as one of the finest golf communities in America. Designed by architect Robert Cupp, Crosswater was named "1998 Best New Resort Course" by Golf Digest and one of the "Top Ten New Resort Courses to Play" by Golf Magazine.

Each site is hosting the women's golf championships for the first time.
