NCAA Division II men's and women's basketball recruiting calendar

Jamborees

NCAA Division II institutions should note that members of the men's and women's basketball coaching staffs may evaluate prospective student-athletes during the period between the prospects' initial and final high-school or two-year college contest. During its October 1994 meeting, the former NCAA Council determined that a basketball jamboree against outside competition is considered a contest (and, thus, is considered part of the evaluation period), provided it is organized by an institution, by a conference in which the institution is a member, or by the appropriate state or national high-school/two-year college athletics authority.

Correction of self-study report for Divisions II and III NCAA Constitution 6.3.1

Divisions II and III institutions should note that the 1997-98 NCAA Divisions II and III Manuals incorrectly indicate in Constitution 6.3.1 that member institutions shall conduct a comprehensive self-study and evaluation of their intercollegiate athletics programs at least once every 10 years. Constitution 6.3.1 in the Divisions II and III Manuals should read as follows: Member institutions shall conduct a comprehensive self-study and evaluation of their intercollegiate athletics program at least once every five years in a form prescribed by the NCAA Management Council. Division I institutions shall use the athletics certification process set forth in 6.3.1.1 to fulfill the self-study requirements. The report of the self-study and supporting documentation shall be available for examination upon request by an authorized representative of the Association. Subjects covered by the self-study shall include:

(a) Institutional purpose and athletics philosophy;

(b) The authority of the chief executive officer in personnel and financial affairs;

(c) Athletics organization and administration;

(d) Finances;

(e) Personnel;

(f) Sports programs;

(g) Recruiting policies;

(h) Services for student-athletes; and

(i) Student-athlete profiles.
