Nominations due for I committees

Nominations are being sought to fill Division I committee positions in the new NCAA membership structure.

Vacancies for Division I exist not only on Division I committees but also on Association-wide and common committees (see list below).

Nominations for these vacancies must be made through the conferences listed in Constitution 4.5.1. Nominees from the conferences are due at the national office by March 21.

An individual must be "on staff" at a Division I institution to be eligible for Division I committee service. In this case, "on staff" is defined as an individual who is salaried on a regular basis by a Division I institution or conference and performs a regular staff function representing at least 50 percent of the normal workload for a staff member at that institution or conference.

On all Division I committees other than those relating to football, no subdivision is to have more than 50 percent representation. With regard to Association-wide and common committees, all subdivisions of Division I must be represented; in some cases, however, that representation will be achieved through attrition.

Division I members are reminded that in the new Division I structure, several new committees are similar to committees that already were in place. In cases in which the new committee function mirrors the previous function, the Division I Management Council has determined that Division I committee members will be retained, which means that the only vacancies to be filled will be those that would have occurred in September 1997 under the previous structure.
