March Madness enters cyberspace

Thanks to online technology, catching the action of the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments is as easy as clicking your mouse

The NCAA is providing coverage of the Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Championships on the World Wide Web.

NCAA Online (http://www.ncaa.org) began providing complete coverage of the tournaments February 24 with previews of all the host cities and arenas.

Beginning with Selection Sunday and continuing throughout the championships, college basketball fans will be able to follow the action of each team with brackets, line-ups, statistics, shot charts and photos. The site will also feature interactive games, the tournament's history and a special area for kids.

Unique to the NCAA site will be "cybercasts" of the games. The cybercasts will include a mix of live photographs, statistics, graphics, animation and game-analysis tools giving users unprecedented control for game information.

Host Communications, Inc. (HCI), of Lexington, Kentucky, and KOZ Sports of Raleigh, North Carolina, are producing and marketing the NCAA's tournament coverage.

HCI expands its 22-year relationship with the NCAA, which includes marketing the NCAA corporate partner program, publishing the Men's and Women's Basketball Championship Programs, providing the NCAA Radio Network and expanding event telecasts internationally.

KOZ Sports is a division of KOZ Inc., a company founded by Frank Daniels III, former executive editor of the Raleigh News and Observer. Daniels is founder of NANDO, the first on-line newspaper in the world and a recognized leader in online communications.
