Championships corner

Men's gymnastics: The NCAA Men's Gymnastics Committee is soliciting proposed budgets from potential hosts for the 1998 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships. The committee is seeking two sites for regional competition (East and West regionals) and one site for the national-championships competition. The East and West regionals are scheduled for April 4, 1998. The national-championship competition is scheduled for April 16-18, 1998. Representatives of institutions interested in serving as hosts are invited to contact R. Wayne Burrow, NCAA assistant director of championships, at the national office.

Division I women's softball: The NCAA Division I Women's Softball Committee is soliciting bids to host the finals of the 1999, 2000 and 2001 Division I Women's Softball Championships. Institutions, conferences or sponsoring agencies interested in hosting the Women's College World Series can obtain a bid-preparation packet from Christine M. Pohl, NCAA assistant director of championships, at the national office. The championship site or sites will be selected in June, and proposals are due by April 15.

Division II women's softball: The NCAA Division II Women's Softball Committee is soliciting bids to host the 2000, 2001 and 2002 Division II Women's Softball Championships. The tournaments will be May 18-22, 2000; May 17-21, 2001; and May 16-20, 2002. Bids to host the championship are due by May 1 to Deborah R. Nelson, NCAA assistant director of championships, at the national office.

Division III women's softball: The NCAA Division III Women's Softball Committee is soliciting bids to host the 1999 and 2001 Division III Women's Softball Championships. The tournaments will be May 13-16, 1999, and May 17-20, 2001. Bids are due by May 1 to Nelson at the national office.

Division I men's and women's swimming and diving: The Division I swimming and diving subcommittee of the NCAA Men's and Women's Swimming Committee is soliciting proposed budgets from potential hosts for the 1999 Division I Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The committee is seeking one site for the men's championships and one site for the women's championships. The 1999 Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships are scheduled for March 18-20 and the 1999 Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships are scheduled for March 25-27. Representatives of institutions interested in serving as hosts are invited to contact Burrow at the national office.
