Stanford places four on Kaepa/AVCA all-America squad

Nine players from championship teams head the 1996 Kaepa/American Volleyball Coaches Association all-America team.

Division I champion Stanford placed four players, including first-team selections Kerri Walsh and Lisa Sharpley. Walsh was named the Division I championship's most outstanding player after Stanford downed Hawaii in three games in the title match. Sharpley was picked as a first-team setter for the second consecutive year.

Cardinal players selected to the second team were outside hitter Kristin Folkl and middle blocker Eileen Murfee.

The Division I player of the year is Hawaii's Angelica Ljungquist, who recorded 537 kills and a .428 hitting percentage for the season.

The Division II team was headed by setter Amy Steffel from champion Nebraska-Omaha and two-time Division II player of the year Liu Jun from Northern Michigan.

In Division III, five-time defending champion Washington (Missouri) placed three players on the first team, including setter Stephanie Habif, who earned a second straight first-team selection. Sophomore middle blocker Jennifer Martz and senior outside hitter Emmy Sjogren joined Habif on the first team.

The Division III player of the year is Wisconsin-Oshkosh setter Amy Ward, a three-time all-American.
