Administrative Committee minutes

1. Acting for the Council:

Committee appointments:

a. Appointed Peggy L. Green, senior woman administrator, Fayetteville State University, as chair of the Division II Women's Basketball Committee, effective September 1, 1996, replacing Jan H. Kiger, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, whose term as chair expires on that date.

b. Appointed Terrence P. Skrypek, head ice hockey coach, University of St. Thomas (Minnesota), to the Divisions II and III Men's Ice Hockey Committee, replacing Nathaniel C. "Whitey" Aus, St. Olaf College, declined appointment that would have been effective September 1, 1996; and appointed James E. Harris, director of athletics, University of Alabama, Huntsville, replacing Don J. Amiot, Mankato State University, resigned.

c. Appointed Tina L. Hill, assistant director of athletics, Elizabethtown College, to the Division III Women's Volleyball Committee, replacing Lawrence R. Bock, Juniata College, resigned.

d. Appointed Robyn R. Sharp, associate athletics director, Oregon State University, to the Division I Women's Softball Committee, replacing Judith M. Brame, California State University, Northridge, resigned because her institution will become a member of the Big West Conference effective September 1, 1996, and that conference is already represented on the committee.

2. Acting for the Executive Committee:

a. Approved the recommendation from the Men's Gymnastics Committee that the University of New Mexico serve as the host institution for the West regional qualifying meet of the 1997 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships.

b. Approved the recommendation from the Men's Water Polo Committee that the University of California, San Diego, serve as the host institution for the 1996 National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Championship.

3. Acting for the Council and Executive Committee:

Established the following schedule for Administrative Committee telephone conferences through December 1996 (all at 2 p.m. Central time unless otherwise noted): Monday, July 22, 8 a.m. Central time; Wednesday, July 31, 9 a.m. Central time (if necessary); Tuesday, August 6 (in conjunction with Executive Committee meeting); Sunday, August 11 (in conjunction with Council meeting); Wednesday, August 21; Thursday, September 5; Wednesday, September 18; Sunday, October 6 (in conjunction with Council meeting); Wednesday, October 16; Wednesday, October 30; Wednesday, November 13; Wednesday, November 27; Wednesday, December 4 (in conjunction with Executive Committee meeting); Wednesday, December 18.

4. Report of actions taken by the executive director per Constitution 4.3.2.

Acting for the Council:

Approved 25 summer basketball leagues (10 for men, eight for women and seven for both men and women) per Bylaws 14.7.5.2 and 30.14, as reported in issues of The NCAA News.
