Women's basketball: Member institutions that sponsor women's basketball are being informed that, beginning in 1997, the Rawlings RWW model basketball will be used in NCAA Divisions I, II and III women's basketball championships. The Rawlings model is a wide-seam basketball. Current basketball playing rules permit teams to use either a wide-seam ball or a narrow-seam ball for regular-season play; the wide-seam ball, however, will be used in all NCAA tournament games beginning next year.

Division I field hockey: Because of a tournament format change, the Division I subcommittee of the NCAA Field Hockey Committee again is soliciting proposed budgets for the 1997 and 1998 Division I Field Hockey Championship semifinals and finals. Under the new format, Friday and Sunday will be the days of competition, rather than Saturday and Sunday. Dates for the 1997 competition are November 21 and 23 and dates for 1998 are November 20 and 22. Representatives of member institutions interested in hosting these events are being asked to contact Michelle A. Pond, NCAA assistant director of championships, at the national office.

Division I women's golf: The Division I women's subcommittee of the NCAA Men's and Women's Golf Committee is soliciting proposed budgets for the Division I Women's Golf Championships for the years 1999 and beyond. The competition is held during the third full week in May, from Wednesday to Saturday. Representatives of member institutions interested in hosting this event are being asked to contact Pond at the national office.

Divisions II and III women's golf: The Divisions II and III women's subcommittee of the Men's and Women's Golf Committee is soliciting proposed budgets for the Divisions II and III Women's Golf Championships for the years 1997 and beyond. The competition is held during the second full week in May, either Tuesday through Friday or Wednesday through Saturday. Representatives of member institutions interested in hosting this event are being asked to contact Pond at the national office.
