Kyle Shipp
Mary Hardin-Baylor chose Ben Shipp to lead its baseball program as head coach. Shipp has worked for the university for nearly three decades, most recently as vice president for athletics. His son, Kyle Shipp, will be an assistant. Kyle spent the last five seasons as an assistant at Southwestern (Texas).
Other transactions
Associate athletics directors – Michelle Walsh is SUNY Geneseo’s new associate athletics director. Walsh comes from Fitchburg State, where she was the coordinator of compliance and student-athlete welfare.
Coaches
Men’s basketball assistants – Kansas State named Brad Korn its director of men’s basketball operations. Korn spent the last eight seasons on the staff at Southern Illinois.
Women’s basketball – Ann Hancock is Wingate’s new head women’s basketball coach. She was an assistant at East Carolina the past two seasons.
Women’s basketball assistants – Georgia Tech tabbed Sytia Messer as its associate head women’s basketball coach. Messer spent the last three seasons as Tennessee Tech’s head coach … North Dakota State promoted Keith Dickhudt from director of operations to assistant women’s basketball coach.
Men’s and women’s ice hockey – Colgate hired Greg Fargo as its new head women’s ice hockey coach. Fargo spent the last four seasons as Elmira’s head coach.
Men’s and women’s soccer assistants – George Washington added Emma Wright to its women’s soccer coaching staff as an assistant … New York University hired Jen Leaverton as an assistant women’s soccer coach. Leaverton recently completed her playing career at St. John’s (New York).
Men’s and women’s volleyball – Ferrum named Jessica Flanagan head women’s volleyball coach. Flanagan is a 2010 Ferrum graduate and replaces Nancy Castillo, who stepped down.
