Ray Rankis

Baruch head men’s basketball coach Ray Rankis announced his retirement from coaching after 29 years leading the program. Rankis will retain his duties as director of athletics. John Alesi, who just finished his first season as associate head coach, has been promoted to head coach.

Other transactions

Presidents and chancellors – Carthage named Gregory Woodward president of the college. Woodward had been the dean of Ithaca’s School of Music since 2008.

Athletics directors – Central (Iowa) athletics director Al Dorenkamp will retire at the end of this academic year. Dorenkamp spent 14 years in the position … Clayton State appointed Carl McAloose as director of athletics. Formerly the AD at Florida Gulf Coast through 2008, McAloose replaces Mason Barfield, who retired from the role.

Coaches

Baseball assistants – New Jersey City added Raj Subramanian to its baseball coaching staff as an assistant. Subramanian was previously an assistant at the high school level.

Men’s basketball assistants – Stanford associate head men’s basketball coach Dick Davey will retire at the end of the season. Davey was the head coach at Santa Clara from 1992-2007 and has been with the Cardinal for four seasons.

Women’s basketball – Tennessee State will not retain head women’s basketball coach Tracee Wells for next season. Wells coached the Lady Tigers for eight seasons.

Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field – Gallaudet elevated current head coach Mikaela G. Hudson to a full-time position coaching both the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. This is her second year as the head coach of both squads.

Football – McDaniel chose Mike Hoyt to lead its football program as head coach. Hoyt spent the last eight seasons as Albright’s defensive coordinator.

Football assistants – UNLV named Tim Hundley linebackers coach. Hundley spent the past three seasons coaching the secondary at UCLA.

Staff

Marketing – Oregon State tabbed John Rizzardini as its chief marketing officer. Rizzardini comes from the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, where he was senior vice president of ticket sales and service.

Sport sponsorship

Bellarmine will add men’s and women’s swimming beginning this fall. The additions bring the total number of sports offered by the Knights to 21.
