Baldwin-Wallace named Laura Wolff head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach. Wolf served as the interim head coach of both programs this season. Wolff has previous collegiate coaching experience at Ohio State as a volunteer assistant and Canisius as head coach.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Buffalo appointed John Lambert interim athletics director. Lambert, currently the senior associate athletics director, has been with the university since 1996.

Coaches

Men’s and women’s basketball – Mount St. Mary’s placed head men’s basketball coach Robert Burke on administrative leave. Assistant coach Matt Henry is now acting head coach … Western Kentucky named Ray Harper head men’s basketball coach. Harper had been serving as the Hilltoppers’ interim head coach and is in his fourth season with the program.

Football – Nevada signed head football coach Chris Ault to a two-year contract extension, keeping him with the Wolf Pack through 2015. Ault has coached at Nevada for 27 seasons.

Football assistants – Arkansas State announced the resignation of defensive coordinator Keith Patterson … Auburn hired Willie Martinez as a defensive assistant coach. Martinez was the secondary coach at Oklahoma for the past two seasons … Iowa named former players LeVar Woods linebackers coach and Brian Ferentz offensive line coach. Woods has been an administrative assistant with the Iowa program since 2008 and Ferentz coached last season with the NFL’s New England Patriots … Montana State chose Kevin McGiven as its offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. McGiven spent the last two seasons at Memphis … Penn State tabbed Charlie Fisher as its quarterbacks coach. Fisher is entering his 31^st season coaching, the last of which he spent at Miami (Ohio).

Men’s and women’s soccer – Harding named Odie Guzman head men’s soccer coach. Guzman, a former player for Harding, was an assistant at NAIA institution Lubbock Christian for two seasons

Staff

Athletic trainers – Penn State appointed Tim Bream director of athletic trainer services/head athletic trainer for football. Bream, a Penn State alum, has served as the Chicago Bears’ head athletic trainer since 1997.

Milestones

Boston College head men’s ice hockey coach Jerry York reached the 900 career win mark. York is currently in his 40^th season overall, the last 18 of which have been with his alma mater … Chapman head softball coach Janet Lloyd surpassed 500 career wins. She is in her 18^th season leading the Panthers.

NCAA Committee Vacancies

The NCAA is soliciting nominations for the following Division I committee vacancies.  The deadline for submitting nomination materials is March 16, 2012.  Nominations must be submitted online.

Division I Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee – Two immediate vacancies (any subdivision). One appointee must have expertise in education-impacting disabilities.  The second appointee will replace Colleen Evans, formerly of San Diego State, who resigned from the committee. This appointee will be assigned to the core course review subcommittee.

Division I Football Issues Committee – Two September 2012 vacancies – Big East Conference and Southeastern Conference.

Division I Baseball Committee – One September 2012 vacancy. Central region; FBS; coach or administrator. (Conference USA is the only FBS conference in the Central region.)

Men’s and Women’s Fencing Committee – One September 2012 vacancy. Any division or subdivision; West region; preference:  coach.

Men’s Gymnastics Committee – One September 2012 vacancy. Any division or subdivision; any region; administrator.

Men’s Ice Hockey Committee – One September 2012 vacancy. Western Collegiate Hockey Association; administrator.

Division I Softball Committee – Two September 2012 vacancies. Both appointees must be from the FBS; West region (Western Athletic Conference – only FBS in West) and East region (Big East only FBS in East); coaches or administrators.
