Wisconsin added Eddie Faulkner to its football coaching staff as tight ends coach. Faulkner spent last season as the running backs coach and special teams coordinator at Northern Illinois and was briefly a member of Pittsburgh’s staff before joining the Badgers. The former Badger running back was at Ball State from 2003-2010 in various offensive roles.

Football assistants – Louisville promoted Shawn Watson from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator. Additionally, graduate assistant Sherrone Moore is the new tight ends coach and offensive line coach Dave Borberly will serve as the running game coordinator … Nevada elevated Mike Bradeson from safeties coach to defensive coordinator. Also, running backs coach Casey Moore will not return to the program … Former Rice cornerbacks coach Chris Thurmond is now the program’s defensive coordinator. Additionally, linebackers coach and special teams coordinator Darrell Patterson will serve as assistant head coach while offensive coordinator John Reagan will switch from tight ends coach to running backs coach. These shifts help facilitate the hiring of Larry Hoeffler as safeties coach and David Sloan as tight ends coach … Tulsa named Calvin Thibodeaux defensive tackles coach. A former player at Oklahoma, Thibodeaux spent last season coaching at Dartmouth.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – John Carroll named Laura Jensen head women’s volleyball coach. Jensen comes from Wittenberg, where she joined the coaching staff as an assistant in 2009.

Conferences

The Pac-12 Conference extended the contract of commissioner Larry Scott through 2016. Scott has been the league’s commissioner the last two years.

Sport sponsorship

Lynn announced the addition of women’s cross country and women’s swimming, bringing its total number of varsity sports to 13. Both teams will begin competition during the 2012-13 year.
