WPI hired Meredith Merchant as assistant recreation director/facility coordinator. Merchant was previously graduate associate of facilities and special events in campus recreation at Springfield while also serving as a health and fitness intern. Merchant’s appointment comes in advance of the opening of WPI’s new Sports and Recreation Center.

Men’s basketball – Central Michigan named Keno Davis head men’s basketball coach. Davis has four years of head coaching experience, one at Drake and three at Providence.

Men’s basketball assistants – Northern Iowa assistant Ben Johnson is leaving to join the men’s basketball staff at Nebraska. Johnson spent four years with the Panthers.

Women’s basketball – Texas tabbed Karen Aston as its head women’s basketball coach. Aston spent eight years as an assistant with the Longhorns prior to head coaching stints at Charlotte and North Texas … Trine selected Steve Mix to lead its women’s basketball program as head coach. Mix has more than 25 years of coaching, scouting and broadcasting experience in addition to a 13-year playing career.

Milestones

Charlie Hickey became Central Connecticut State’s all-time baseball wins leader over the weekend. He has now tallied 356 wins in his 13^th season at the helm.
