Marnie Dacko
Rhode Island hired Marnie Dacko as the coordinator for marketing, development and special projects for women’s athletics. Dacko recently spent one season as an assistant for Rhode Island’s women’s basketball team. She was the head women’s basketball coach at Cornell from 1995-2002 and Massachusetts from 2002-09.

Conferences
The Big East Conference hired Jeff Hathaway as a consultant to the commissioner for men’s basketball. Hathaway was previously the athletics director at Connecticut … Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference came to an agreement to form one large football association. The two conferences will merge into a separate football-only entity without affecting their status within the NCAA structure.
Miscellaneous
North Carolina-Asheville will reinstate women’s swimming for competition in the 2012-13 academic year. The university previously fielded a program from 1972-1976.
NCAA Committee Vacancies
The NCAA is soliciting nominations for an immediate vacancy on the Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Committee. The appointee will replace Andrew McPhee, formerly of Trinity (Connecticut), who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the New England Small College Athletic Conference. The committee preference is for a women’s ice hockey coach. The deadline for submitting nomination materials is November 18, 2011. Nominations must be submitted online (access code: committee3, password: 2006).
