North Carolina appointed Lawrence (Bubba) Cunningham director of athletics. Cunningham had been the director of athletics at Tulsa since 2005. Additionally, Cunningham spent three years leading Ball State’s athletics department. North Carolina signed Cunningham to a six-year contract.

Coaches

Football assistants – Middle Tennessee State offensive coordinator and running backs coach Willie Simmons resigned.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse assistants – Delaware chose Corrine Drost as a volunteer assistant women’s lacrosse coach. Drost has previous coaching experience at the club level and played collegiately for the Blue Hens.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Sage Colleges tabbed Jason Wood as its interim head men’s volleyball coach. Wood joined the athletics program in the summer of 2011 when he was hired as a women’s volleyball assistant. Wood replaces Andy Smith, who resigned earlier this month.

Staff

Development – James Gulick is La Salle’s new director of athletic development. Gulick previously was assistant vice president for alumni relations for the university.
