Hawaii elevated Benjy Taylor from assistant to associate head men’s basketball coach. Taylor was an assistant with the Warriors last season. Additionally, Scott Fisher was hired as an assistant. Fisher was director of operations last year for Hawaii.
Other transactions
Kate Charipar
Assistant athletics directors – Utah promoted Kate Charipar to assistant athletics director for compliance. Associate athletics director for compliance Kyle Brennan is also now special assistant to the athletics director, with Charipar taking over some of Brennan’s duties. Additionally, Erik Weierholt was named director of compliance.
Associate athletics directors – Lipscomb appointed John Ezell associate athletic director for compliance, Lin Garner associate athletic director for academics, Trevor Garnett associate athletic director for external affairs and Andy Lane associate athletic director for development. Garner was also designated senior woman administrator.
Coaches
Baseball – Mike Fox and North Carolina agreed to a contract extension that will keep him head baseball coach through 2018. Fox is in his 14th season with the Tar Heels.
Men’s basketball – Bluefield State named Jamaal Jackson interim head men’s basketball coach. Jackson was the associate head coach at Stillman previously … North Carolina extended the contract of head men’s basketball coach Roy Williams. The deal will keep Williams with the Tar Heels through 2018.
Men’s basketball assistants – Massachusetts-Lowell hired Souleymane Wane and Mike Papale as assistant men’s basketball coaches. Wane played collegiately at Connecticut and was most recently a high school French teacher, while Papale was a student-manager at Quinnipiac from 2007-2011 … New Orleans added Kris Arkenberg and Kerwin Forges to its men’s basketball staff as assistant coaches.
Women’s basketball – Sylvia Hatchell will remain head women’s basketball coach at North Carolina through 2018 after signing a contract extension. Hatchell is in her 26th season at the helm.
Women’s basketball assistants – St. Joseph’s (Maine) tabbed Meghan Daigle as its new assistant women’s basketball coach. Daigle served as a student-assistant with the Monks last season after starting for three years previously.
Softball assistants – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi named Sarah Pauly pitching coach. The former Islander pitcher has been pitching coach for the past two seasons at College of Charleston.
Men’s and women’s tennis – North Florida chose Adam Schaechterle as its new head men’s tennis coach. Schaechterle was most recently an assistant at his alma mater, Northwestern.
