Carthage tabbed Tyler Wollberg as its head women’s golf coach. Wollberg served as a part-time assistant in the fall for the women’s squad and last spring for the men’s team. He is a Carthage alum, golfing there from 2006-09. Wollberg replaces Rick Leslie, who resigned in October to pursue other career interests.

Betty Austin
Athletics directors – Alabama A&M Athletics Director Betty Austin is retiring. Austin, who has served as AD since March 2007, has spent 35 years as a coach and administrator at her alma mater … Penn State announced that Athletics Director Tim Curley has been placed on administrative leave.
Coaches
Baseball assistants – South Alabama chose Andrew Carden as its director of baseball operations. Carden spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Central Alabama Community College.
Men’s basketball – York (Pennsylvania) head men’s basketball coach Jeff Gamber will retire at the end of the 2011-12 season, his 35th leading the Spartans.
Men’s basketball assistants – Former Connecticut basketball player Kevin Freeman is returning to his alma mater as assistant director of men’s basketball administration. Freeman recently retired from a professional career spent abroad.
Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field – San Jose State head men’s and women’s cross country coach Augie Argabright is retiring. Argabright spent the last 18 seasons as the women’s head coach and has been the men’s coach as well since 1997.
Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field assistants – UTSA named Adam Hudson assistant track and field coach. Hudson will work with the 400-meter sprinters and hurdlers.
Men’s and women’s soccer – TCU head women’s soccer coach Chris Del Conte resigned after seven seasons at the helm.
Softball – Southwest Minnesota State hired Missy Bruggeman to lead its softball program as head coach. Bruggeman served as the top assistant at St. Thomas (Minnesota) the last two seasons.
Softball assistants – Felician added Leslie Korkgy-Valenti, Herb Melendez and Brad Forestieri to its softball coaching staff as assistants.
Conferences
The America East Conference named Mary Mulvenna assistant commissioner for compliance. Mulvenna spent the last six years at the Missouri Valley Conference in a similar role … Holly Gampa is the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s interim director of marketing.
Deaths
Former Delaware football player Ralph Borgess passed away after a three-month battle with cancer. Borgess was a captain on the 1971 national championship team.
