Eastern Illinois named Dino Babers head football coach. Babers comes to the Panthers from Baylor, where he was the special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach. He replaces longtime coach Bob Spoo, who retired as the winningest coach in Eastern Illinois history.

Other transactions

Assistant athletics directors – Heidi Wegmueller is Bradley’s new assistant athletics director for external affairs. Wegmueller has worked for the PGA for the past eight years.

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Mike Adras resigned as head men’s basketball coach at Northern Arizona. Adras served as an assistant for seven years before becoming head coach of the Lumberjacks in 1999. Longtime Northern Arizona employee Dave Brown will take over on an interim basis.

Women’s basketball coach – Oklahoma State named Jim Littell head women’s basketball coach. Littell was named interim head coach after the plane crash that took the lives of head coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna. He spent the last six seasons as the program’s associate head coach.

Football – Illinois tabbed Tim Beckman as its new head football coach. Beckman spent the last three seasons at Toledo leading its football program … North Carolina named Larry Fedora head football coach. Fedora had been the head coach at Southern Mississippi since 2008 … UCLA chose Jim L. Mora to lead its football program as head coach. Mora has previously been a head coach for two different teams in the NFL.

Football assistants – Arizona re-hired Robert Anae as its offensive line coach. Anae coached the line for one season under previous head coach Mike Stoops and will continue to do so under Rich Rodriguez.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Louisiana-Monroe hired Roberto Mazza as its head women’s soccer coach. Mazza comes from Arkansas-Pine Bluff, where he coached the Golden Lions for five seasons.
