    Central Florida hired Donnie Jones as head men's basketball coach to replace Kirk Speraw, whose contract was not renewed. Jones just finished his third season as head coach at Marshall, and served for 11 years as an assistant at Florida. Before his time at Florida, he was an assistant at Marshall for six years.

    Other transactions

    Athletics director – Shepherd selected B.J. Pumroy, former athletics director at Valley City State University. He also has administrative experience at Truman, where he also coached baseball.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball – Al Skinner left Boston College after 13 years and a 247-165 record. Associate head coach Pat Duquette will serve as interim head coach …UTEP selected former Southern California coach Tim Floyd. Floyd was an assistant to former UTEP coach Don Haskins from 1978-86 … St. John's (New York) hired television analyst Steve Lavin. Lavin has coaching experience at UCLA and Purdue … Toledo hired former Wisconsin-Green Bay head coach Tod Kowalczyk. Kowalczyk served as an assistant at Marquette, Rutgers, Rider, St. Anselm and New Hampshire before accepting the head coaching job at Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2002 … Murray State extended the contract of Billy Kennedy through 2014 … Holy Cross released Sean Kearney after one season and a 9-22 record.

    Women's basketball – Annette Watts resigned after nine seasons and a 144-121 record at Davidson … Colorado released Kathy McConnell-Miller after five seasons and a 65-88 record.

    Football assistants – Southern Illinois hired Jim Jackson to coach tight ends. Jackson spent the last three seasons as the assistant offensive line coach at Minnesota.

    Men's and women's lacrosse – Kelley Queisser-McPeake will resign from the Fort Lewis women's program at the end of the 2010 season due to personal reasons.

    Men's and women's tennis – Dylan Vickers resigned from the job at Maryland-Eastern Shore. Assistant coach Harold Fowler will serve as interim head coach.

    Deaths

    Longtime Guilford teacher and coach Jack Jensen died March 28. He coached men's basketball for 29 years and was in his 33rd season as coach of the golf team. His teams won four national championships. Jensen was 71.
