Division II's eight-game regular-season men's and women's basketball package with CBS College Sports Network tips off Saturday when Fort Valley State's women's team visits Albany State (Georgia) in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference clash at noon Eastern time.
The fourth year of the television agreement between Division II and CBS College Sports features two Saturdays of women's action, followed by four men's games in consecutive weeks and then two more women's games to wrap up the broadcast season.
Here is the schedule (all times Eastern):
- Saturday, January 9 – Fort Valley State women at Albany State (Georgia), Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, noon
- Saturday, January 16 – Molloy women at Queens (New York), East Coast Conference, 6 p.m.
- Saturday, January 23 – Bellarmine men at Northern Kentucky, Great Lakes Valley Conference, 2 p.m.
- Saturday, January 30 – Queens (North Carolina) men at Pfeiffer, Conference Carolinas, noon
- Saturday, February 6 – Cal State Monterey Bay men at Humboldt State, California Collegiate Athletic Association, 5:30 p.m.
- Saturday, February 13 – Montevallo men at Augusta State, Peach Belt Conference, noon
- Saturday, February 20 – Franklin Pierce women at Bentley, Northeast-10 Conference, noon
- Saturday, February 27 – Bloomfield women at Caldwell, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, noon
The Fort Valley State-Albany State women's matchup tomorrow is a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference battle between the unbeaten and No. 21 ranked Wildcats (10-0) and the 1-9 Albany State Lady Rams.
The eight-game TV schedule bolsters Division II exposure from a geographical diversity standpoint, since eight different conferences are represented.
"This year's schedule continues a hallmark of the television initiative, which is to spread the exposure," said Division II Vice President Mike Racy.
The broadcasts will also be syndicated through regional sports networks and local stations and be made available via broadband at www.NCAA.com.
