Wagner will add diving to its women's swimming program beginning with the 2010-11 season. The school began sponsoring women's swimming 13 years ago.

Wagner will be one of three swim teams in the Northeast Conference that also compete in diving, joining Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut State.

"We are excited to add women's diving to our swim program," said Athletics Director Walt Hameline. "This will be an immeasurable help to the swim program and will provide additional opportunities for student-athletes to compete here at Wagner."

Coach Mark Sowa said he was excited to begin the diving program, which was a priority since he became swim coach two years ago.

"The addition of this team will make us even more competitive in our conference as well as nationally," Sowa said. "We look forward to watching our divers on the boards next season and will continue to actively recruit more athletes throughout the remaining school year. Additionally, I believe that we will be able to find a qualified and energetic coach who is as excited about this opportunity as we are."

The school is conducting a national search for a diving coach.
