Utah State men's basketball coach Stew Morrill earned his 500th career victory January 23 when the Aggies defeated Idaho, 60-48.

Morrill is one of 19 active coaches to reach the milestone and is the 73rd coach in Division I history to earn 500 wins. He is Utah State's all-time wins leader with a record of 282-97 in 12 years leading the program.

Morrill told the Salt Lake Tribune that he hasn't focused on the milestone, preferring to concentrate on the next challenge.

"I guess when I get some time, I can reflect on things a little bit," he said. "But right now, I'm looking at the number 15, (the number of wins the Aggies have), and not 500. We have to get ready for San Jose State next week, and that's the first priority."

Before joining the Aggies program, Morrill was head coach at Colorado State for seven years, where he ranks second on the Rams victory list. Before that, he led Montana for five seasons after seven seasons as an assistant under former Stanford and current California coach Mike Montgomery. He began his career as an assistant at Gonzaga.
