Troy broke ground recently on its new $31 million Trojan Arena to replace Sartain Hall. The facility should be complete in fall 2011.

Trojan Arena will seat 5,200 people for basketball, with an additional 400 seats available on the floor for other events. The arena will serve as the university's convocation center and provide space for meetings, commencements, concerts and other special events. The facility will be adjacent to Troy's track and field complex on Trojan Oaks Golf Course.

The arena is part of a three-building project that includes a residential development and dining facility. All three buildings are funded with a $62.7 million bond and private donations.

"Enrollment growth and Division I athletics dictate a progressive step into the future," said Chancellor Jack Hawkins Jr. "We believe a new arena will not only accommodate our need for more space but allow us to showcase our successful athletics program. The arena represents one of the most important investments we will make in Troy University for many years."
