    Sun Belt, MAC to play in GMAC Bowl through 2013

    The GMAC Bowl will host teams from the Mid-American and Sun Belt conferences through the 2013 season.

    The four-year partnership will bring to Mobile, Alabama, the MAC's No. 1 selection in 2011 and 2013 and No. 2 selection in the 2010 and 2012 seasons, after the Bowl Championship Series selections. The GMAC Bowl will have the first or second selection in the Sun Belt all four years, after the BCS and R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

    This year, the GMAC Bowl was played January 6 and featured the Troy Trojans and MAC Conference champion Central Michigan. It was Central Michigan's fourth consecutive bowl appearance.

    "This relationship with the GMAC Bowl represents one of the most significant steps in our league's history," said Sun Belt Commissioner Wright Waters.
