    Rose to chair championships cabinet

    Judy Rose, the director of athletics at Charlotte, was named chair of the Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet during the group's meeting in Indianapolis on Monday.

    Rose has been the AD at Charlotte since 1990 and previously was the first woman to serve on the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee (1999-2004). She has also served on the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Discussion Group, the NCAA Diversity Leadership Planning Group and the Division I Men's Collegiate Basketball Partnership. She's been a member of the championships cabinet since 2005.

    Rose replaces former San Diego State Athletics Director Jeff Schemmel as chair.

    Jane Miller, senior associate athletics director at Virginia, was named vice chair of the cabinet.
