Ohio State's baseball team beat Richmond by a score of 20-9 on Sunday, handing coach Bob Todd his 1,000th career victory. He is the 41st NCAA coach to reach the milestone.
"I have been in coaching for a long time and had some very talented players and assistant coaches," Todd said. "To win 1,000 is a great honor for me."
Todd has coached the Buckeyes for 22 seasons and 14 regular-season and tournament titles and 12 NCAA tournament appearances. He was enshrined into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in January. He has served on several national committees, including the Division I Baseball Committee.
Before joining the Buckeyes, Todd coached at Kent State for four years and served as assistant athletics director. He also was an assistant at Missouri for nine seasons. He graduated from Missouri in 1971 with a degree in education.
