The Massachusetts Institute of Technology will become an associate member of the Patriot League in women's rowing during the 2010 season.
The Engineers will participate in the Patriot League Rowing Championship in April.
A Division III athletics program, the Engineers began competing at the Division I level in women's rowing in September 2001. MIT joins Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lehigh and Navy as Patriot League members in rowing.
"MIT shares many of the same strong qualities with our current Patriot League membership," said Patriot League Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich. "It is a distinguished institution with exemplary academics and high-level athletics, and a commitment to competitive equity and the personal development of student-athletes."
