Disney Sports will host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship events through 2014, the conference announced earlier this week.

Disney Sports has hosted MAAC events at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando since 1998.

As part of the renewed agreement, the complex will host the MAAC 2011 men's soccer championship, the 2012 cross country championships, the 2013 women's soccer championship and the 2014 volleyball championship.

In addition to the fall championship contract extension, the 2010 volleyball championship will return to Disney, as will the 2011 men's and women's golf championships. The 2011 and 2012 golf events will be played at the Magnolia Golf Course, while the 2013 and 2014 events will be played at the Palm Golf Course.

The Disney Wide World of Sports Complex is set to be repositioned as an ESPN property in February, making the MAAC events among the first to compete at the complex after the changeover.

The extension of the championship hosting agreement between Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex and the MAAC was a major element of the league's five-year strategic plan that was approved in December 2008, said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor.

"The plan noted that placing championships at Disney allows the MAAC to provide a 10-team championship experience for the selected fall sports once in a four-year graduation cycle," Ensor said. "The championships are hosted in world-class athletics facilities and allow the student-athletes the sports experience of a lifetime. It also provides an opportunity to our fans, especially the families of the student-athletes, to plan on attending the championship well in advance of the event."
