Duke won its first Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship in a remarkable – if low-scoring – final game Monday, beating Notre Dame, 6-5, on a goal five seconds into sudden-death overtime.

The game featured five ties, and no team led by more than one goal through the entire matchup. It was the lowest-scoring title game in history, as both teams prioritized defense throughout the contest.

The victory was the first for the Blue Devils in three appearances in the championship game.

"I am extremely happy and joyful for our students and anybody who has ever worn a Duke jersey," said Duke head coach John Danowski. "This game was a great battle." [More]
